Kinds of FSSAI registration:

Ensuring that Food Business Operators (FBOs) follow the guidelines and regulations of the FSS Act, 2006 is their responsibility.

Food Safety Departments enforce regulations through surveillance, checks, investigations, and random sampling of food items conducted by their officials.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, along with State Food Authorities, share responsibility for enforcing and implementing the FSSA, 2006. This is outlined in Section 29 of the FSS Act, 2006.

All Food Safety Officials in States/Union Territories, along with Designated Officers and Food Safety Officers, are mainly responsible for the authorization process.

If a Food Safety Officer is found guilty of an offense mentioned in form 39 of the Act, they may face a penalty of up to one lakh rupees. However, if the complaint against the Food Safety Officer is proven false, the complainant could be fined between fifty thousand to one lakh rupees.

Not complying with an improvement notice could result in the suspension of the food business operator's license.

If the food business operator doesn't comply with the improvement notice, the designated officer may cancel the license after giving the licensee an opportunity to explain their situation.

If a food business operator disagrees with an improvement notice, they can appeal to the State Chief of Food Safety. The decision made there is final but can be contested in the Food Safety Appellate Tribunal or the High Court of their respective State or Union Territory.

The person wishing to appeal has fifteen days from either the date they received the decision notice or the deadline specified in the improvement notice, whichever comes first.

In case the food business operator doesn't comply with the improvement notice, their license might be suspended.
